Enjoy a picnic whilst spending a summer’s evening in the open air of the glorious gardens of Knowsley Hall watching Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo & Juliet’.
On Thursday 3rd August 2023, The Lord Chamberlain’s Men – with a history stretching back to William Shakespeare himself – will be entertaining guests with the timeless and classic love story, Romeo & Juliet. One of the UK’s finest touring theatre companies presents this wonderful play as Shakespeare first saw it performed – in the open air, by an all male cast and with Elizabethan costumes, music and dance. Each year tickets sell out so be sure to book early to avoid disappointment.
Visitors are encouraged to bring a chair and a picnic and spend a glorious summer’s evening watching this authentic production. The Lord Chamberlain’s men have been entertaining audiences throughout the country and internationally since 2004.
What audiences can expect from this summers production:
Two youths from Verona – Romeo and Juliet – meet by chance and instantly fall in love. Members of two warring families, the Montagues and Capulets, they realise they cannot be together. But driven by love they risk everything and marry in secret. No sooner are they married than misfortune intervenes and, despite efforts to outrun it, their families’ ancient feud catches up with them and brings about their tragic end.
Gates open to the Knowsley Estate from 6.00pm with the performance starting promptly at 7.00pm.
