Property Administrator

Due to a recent reorganisation, an exciting opportunity has arisen on the Knowsley Estate for a Property Administrator within our Property Services department.

Working hours Monday to Friday 8.30am – 5pm (40 hours)
Contract Permanent
Salary £18,000 – £22,000 (dependant on experience)
Closing date Sunday 9th April 2017

As a key member of the team, this role involves providing administrative support in an effective and efficient manner to the Property Services team who provide services to all buildings owned by the Knowsley Estate. This will be a varied role which will centre around general property management administration.

Main duties & responsibilities will include:

  • Being the first point of contact for tenants, clients and contractors;
  • Telephone calls both inbound and outbound;
  • Responding to general enquiries from email, telephone or otherwise;
  • Organising, filing and storing confidential paperwork, documents and computer-based information;
  • Maintenance of departmental records which will include: equipment register, gas servicing, electrical safety and H&S audit programme;
  • Keeping all databases up to date and informing the relevant person within the department of their relevant actions;
  • Producing correspondence such as letters, reports and presentations;
  • Scheduling, organising and taking minutes at meetings;
  • Making appointments and maintaining diaries for the team as required.

Our ideal candidate:

  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Word and Excel;
  • Previous experience in the property industry or similar would be an advantage;

Site Supervisor

Working hours Monday to Friday averaging 40 hours per week
Contract Permanent
Salary £22,000 – £27,000 (dependant on experience)

We have an exciting opportunity at the Knowsley Estate for a Site Supervisor within our Property Services department.

This role will involve providing reactive and planned maintenance services, addressing immediate operational and/or safety concerns, providing support to the Curatorial team and being a key member of the salvage team for the Estate.

Main duties & responsibilities will include:

  • To efficiently carry out general reactive hands-on multi trade work such as joinery repairs, decoration and non-specialist repairs;
  • To perform general cyclical and planned maintenance to buildings and services across the Estate;
  • The coordination and supervision of external suppliers and contractors including liaising with them to ensure that work is carried out to the high standards required by the Estate and trades are coordinated;
  • To monitor the progress and quality of works undertaken by external supplier and contractors including general auditing of H&S;
  • To assist the Property Services Department with managing PPM schedules and compliance related works across the Estate including associated routine inspections, testing and servicing;
  • To ensure that all tools, materials and vehicles are stored, maintained in good working order, routinely tested, recorded on the equipment register and available when required;
  • Handling works of art and hanging pictures (training will be provided);
  • To be the first point of contact for issues related to the main building services including the biomass (training will be provided).

Our ideal candidate:

  • An excellent and broad level of construction knowledge and background is ideal;
  • CSCS card holder;
  • Ideally from a joinery background;
  • Current and valid UK driving license;
  • A high attention to detail;
  • Work with precision and care;
  • Commitment to delivery high standards;
  • Professional attitude and approach to work;
  • Previous Site Supervision experience would be advantageous;
  • Up to date knowledge of H&S legislation;
  • First Aid ideal but not essential.

Chartered Building Surveyor

We are advertising a brilliant new opportunity for a Chartered Building Surveyor at the Knowsley Estate within our Property Services department.

The Knowsley Estate is a diverse and energetic estate with a mixture of properties and land including the iconic Knowsley Safari and Knowsley Hall with surrounding grounds. The Estate also comprises commercial, residential and agricultural properties of a variety of ages and construction within the walls of the park and surrounding areas. This alone creates an abundance of diverse work for the Property Services department, from isolated defect investigation for listed buildings to interesting refurbishment projects and much more. This is an exciting time to join the Property Services department at the forefront of current and future plans to continually improve the Estate with a balanced focus on preservation, sustainability and modernisation.

As a key member of the department you will play an important role in the successful delivering of all property services including assisting the Head of Property Services with unique and exciting major projects.

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Have a BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying or similar degree;
  • Have full Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Building Surveying Faculty) with at least 2 years PQE;
  • Have a current and valid UK driving license;
  • The candidate must have a good breadth of core building surveying experience including project management and preferably knowledge and experience of historical buildings, general building management (including PPM, statutory compliance and H&S) and sustainability;
  • As well as technical competence, the role requires someone with the ability to think laterally, who possesses good interpersonal and communication skills, has good commercial awareness and who is willing to provide first class service to the Estate, Lord and Lady Derby;
  • The role requires a proactive and adaptable individual who is capable of managing and delivering their own workload with minimal supervision;
  • Knowledge and experience of Fire Risk Assessments, Asbestos Management, Legionella, PPM, H&S and general statutory compliance in the context of building management is advantageous but not essential;
  • Experience of building management and / or facilities management would be advantageous but not essential.
